COACHWHIP Coluber (Masticophis) flagellum (Shaw, 1802) STATUS: Common DOCUMENTED COUNTIES: Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Hood, Johnson, Kaufman, Parker, Somervell, Tarrant, and Wise HABITAT: All habitat areas in the Metroplex SUBSPECIES: The eastern coachwhip C. f. flagellum (Shaw, 1802) is found in the eastern part of the Metroplex and the western coachwhip C. f. testaceus (Say, 1823) is found in the western part. COMMENTS: The eastern coachwhip in found in the eastern part of the Metroplex while the western coachwhip is found in the western part. Intermediates are found throughout areas between. |
