PLAIN-BELLIED WATERSNAKE Nerodia erythrogaster (Forster, 1771) STATUS: Abundant DOCUMENTED COUNTIES: Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Hood, Johnson, Kaufman, Parker, Rockwall, Somervell, Tarrant, and Wise HABITAT: permanent water in all habitat areas SUBSPECIES: The yellow-bellied watersnake N. e. flavigaster (Conant, 1949) is found in the eastern part of the Metroplex and blotched watersnake [N. e. transversa (Hallowell, 1852)] is found in the western part. |
