LESSER SIREN Siren intermedia Barnes, 1826 STATUS: Uncommon DOCUMENTED COUNTIES: Dallas, Denton, Kaufman, and Tarrant HABITAT: Both streams and lakes of the Trinity River Bottoms and Post Oak Belt. SUBSPECIES: Western Lesser Siren (S. i. nettingi Goin, 1942) COMMENTS: White Rock Lake and Lake Worth (Dial and Smith, 1964) are historical records. Current data are needed to verify the existence of the lesser siren in these lakes. Extensive work is needed on this particular species. |
