STATUS:  Very Rare

DOCUMENTED COUNTIES:  Dallas and Wise

HABITAT:  Western Cross Timbers    

SUBSPECIES:  Western Pygmy Rattlesnake (S. m. streckeri Gloyd, 1935)

COMMENTS:  Wise County contains the only known viable population of the western pygmy rattlesnake in the Metroplex.
