WESTERN RIBBON SNAKE Thamnophis proximus (Say, 1823) STATUS: Common DOCUMENTED COUNTIES: Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Hood, Johnson, Kaufman, Parker, Somervell, Tarrant, and Wise HABITAT: Permanent water in all habitat areas SUBSPECIES: Western Ribbon Snake [T. p. proximus (Say, 1823)] and Red-striped Ribbon Snake (T. p. rubrilineatus Rossman, 1963) COMMENTS: The red-striped ribbon snake (T. p. rubrilineatus) occurs in the Southwestern part of the Metroplex. |
