Nueces Canyon South

For the purposes of this online guide, the southern border of the Nueces Canyon will be considered to be the "19 mile bridge" on TX Highway 55 (which is approximately 19 miles north of Uvalde).  The southern portion of the Nueces Canyon is all in Uvalde County.  There are no major creeks joining the Nueces in this region, although there are several smaller creeks such as Montell Creek which joins the Nueces from the west near the small town of Montell in the central portion of the map at right. To the southwest, Ranch Road 334 joins TX Highway 55.  To the extreme southwest of the aerial photo, the (usually) dry bed of the West Nueces River can be seen; however, for the purposes of this online guide, the herps of the West Nueces will not be considered.
