SAND MONITOR

This specimen has a tick in front of its eye.                              

The next two specimens are from near Wilcannia, NSW.



Also called the Sand Monitor or Goulds Goanna/Monitor. This species is often confused with the Yellow Spotted Monitor V. panoptes. This species widely ranges throughout most of Australia except the far southeastern portion. The subspecies V. g. flavirufus is found in the arid interior portions.
