For what it's worth, I think there should be no limit to ads posted per day and of course the price be cheaper.

I used to post alot in the Kingsnake.com classifieds, but have not done so for quite some time now due to the cost.

I have now been posting my ads on another site that has no limit to postings per day and only costs $25 per year to do so, plus the site deals strictly with the same type of species that I breed.

Thanks, Walter

Auto relist for one day adds is the first thing that comes to mind......
#2 Eric on 2010-12-20 18:24 (Reply)
I think an ask seller a question area would be nice, I also think it would be nice if all the adds included the true species name. The last thing would be to be able to upload photos from your home computer but I could see some possible issues with that. Your currrent setup is working great for me. KB
#3 Kevin Brown on 2010-12-20 19:06 (Reply)
Some statistical info would be great. Like how many time the ad(s) have been viewed. KS
#4 Kenny Saito on 2010-12-20 19:12 (Reply)
I would like to be able to search for a term in just one category, instead of the entire classifieds site.

Your prices, etc, are all perfectly reasonable considering the massive amount of site traffic through here. Better functionality to allow customers to find what they're looking for quickly would improve on that.

1. Easier way to use HTML in ad
2. How about a quick video- how to post ads on Kingsnake 1-2-3 step by step
3. Have you thought about a pay per ad rate?
4. More user friendly/graphical way to manage ads.

Oh, and surprisingly, I think the pricing is fair on Kingsnake :-)

Thanks for asking for feedback.

How about some way to make posting photos easier. There has to be something to automatically size a photo to fit.
#7 Peter Downing (Homepage) on 2010-12-20 19:28 (Reply)
I'd like to be able to search a classified ad category by the sellers'
location (state). I too would like a counter to see how many hits my ad gets. I have no complaints with the current price structure.
#8 Greg on 2010-12-20 19:32 (Reply)
At one time I was suspended for a TOS violation. It was my fault but the reason was weak. Without reading the TOS I placed a snake for sale for a friend that wasn't capable of doing so. It's not like I didn't "pay" for the ad because I did. If we pay it shouldn't matter what we're selling and who it belongs to. This shouldn't be something to be suspended for and lose our money that we paid for the ad. My plea fell on deaf ears and I lost the money invested to place the ads. So because of that situation where I lost money I no longer place my animals for sale here. I had to find other means. A warning would have taken care of the situation without going to a suspension right away.

Many websites (amazon, ebay, etc) have seller feedback. That'd be nice to see.
searching within one category would be good.
Better divisions; like, part out the milks and kings because there are tons of each up on the classifieds.
Searching by seller location is nice.
#10 Varanid on 2010-12-20 20:42 (Reply)
i would also lie to see some statistical data such as how many views. pricing is fair but i would like to see the limit removed for the price.
i would add and remove some categories. as well. for example.
i would remove gray band kings as its own category and separate kings and milks into 2 categories.
hognose are getting quite popular so maybe they could get a spot of their own.
thats all i can think of right now. but i would like to reiterate the limitation of ads to be removed. i currently dont have an account for that specific reason and would jump on board with you if you removed that limitation.
#11 adam jeffery on 2010-12-20 20:51 (Reply)
also.....MOVE THE SHARE BUTTON...lol
put that annoying thing in the upper right corner or somewhere else out of the way. it jumps up out of no where every time i want to send a pm or even get my mouse near it.....moving that would make the site better... for me at least.
#12 adam jeffery on 2010-12-20 20:57 (Reply)
Co-sign on that. I hate that little pop up box, on classifieds and forums. I wish it was gone, or at least out of the way : )
#12.1 Robyn@Pro Exotics on 2010-12-21 22:33 (Reply)
I'd like to be able to upload pic to ads by browseing my hard drive. The feature should have automatic resizing.

Move the share button.
#13 Mitch Behm on 2010-12-20 21:44 (Reply)
The classified search function needs lots of improvement. Like mentioned above, it would be nice to search in a specific catagory. Also to be able to search for a phrase (using quotes) would be helpful. Using syntaxes to add a word or remove a word from a search would be great too or even searching titles and descriptions or titles only.

1. Allow edits to HTML ads, instead of just allowing a little useless blurb at the end.
2. I only keep turtles/tortoises. I'd like to entertain trades, but only for other turtles and tortoises. Allow me to specify that in my ads rather than having to specify it separately in the TRADES section. I don't think anyone really goes to the TRADES section anyway.
3. Feedback would be cool but would need to be controlled so that only actual buyers can post it. Maybe seller can provide buyer with a confirmation code?
4. I'd ask that potential buyers be forced to read the ENTIRE ad before emailing questions, but I know that's impossible so I'm just airing a general gripe.
Thanks.
#15 Paul V on 2010-12-20 22:39 (Reply)
1. More Sections: (Example:Rhacs out of geckos and Dart frogs out of amphibians)

2. User friendly format for pictures and video

3. Lower price to place ad.
#16 Jason J on 2010-12-20 23:38 (Reply)
I would like to be able to post more the 3 pictures per ad I'd like to see that double to 6 per ad this way if your selling pairs you can see both male and female in differnt pictures. I'd also would like to see something like a KS paypal where you can pay right on Ks and also KS bucks where you can buy Ks dollars that you can use with people selling something like a Ks bank account. Last I'd like to see ways to ad color and different things to the ads. Thanks
#17 Kathy V. on 2010-12-21 07:01 (Reply)
1. Ability to edit an ad after it has been placed.
2. Ability to queue adds to post when you want them to post (i.e. for sales, etc.).
3. Split up sections a bit more so people don't have to look through long lists when they are searching for a specific type of animal.
#18 Josh's Frogs (Homepage) on 2010-12-21 08:33 (Reply)
1. auto picture sizing
2. Allow us to post what we would be willing to TRADE for in addition to listing the price. The current TRADE section is like a flea market with non reptile items in it.
3. Try to bring back more private sellers. There are too many commercial poster's that list the same thing everyday.
4 lower price to get private sellers
#19 Shane Mader on 2010-12-21 08:47 (Reply)
Move the share button is a good idea,I hate that thing:)
Hognose to have their own page, along with kings and milks, great idea.
no limit on postings per day
auto resize of photos would be nice
#20 Steve Perry on 2010-12-21 10:18 (Reply)
How about an apple iphone/ipad app? View and post to the classifieds right from your i... Snap a pic on the go and post an ad from anywhere, anytime.
#21 Sal Santelli (Homepage) on 2010-12-21 16:25 (Reply)
I'd like to see some sort of seller rating system/reviews, similar to Ebay. The suggestion for asking the seller questions in line with the post would also be very helpful. I think both of these suggestions would greatly help the buyer in their decision making.
#22 Keith on 2010-12-21 18:26 (Reply)
Keep the pricing as it is, it is the best marketplace online, and should stay that way. Keep the ads per day limit, same reasoning. I can go to any number of other free or cheap sites and see 16 million spammy junk ads. KS.com has the most valuable classifieds for solid results, and that has solid worth, obviously.

I would like auto-relisting abilities for 2 days. Not every day, again too spammy, but every 2 days would be nice. Every 7 days isn't worth anything for me.

And yes, banish that share button to the far corner of the universe, on all parts of the site.
#23 Robyn@Pro Exotics on 2010-12-21 22:40 (Reply)
Alot of features "requested" are actually already in service?
Is it possible that it only comes with enhanced account, that is why I see it?
We have auto relist for 1 day already, but only after ad expires for first time. Then when you relist it,above submit, it asks for relisting ad entitles to **** for and box with the amount of time you can choose, then below that it says enable auto re-list and it relists it daily at same time. There is also an view counter? Does this stuff only come with enhanced? Cause I see it everytime I log in to delete/relist ads.
I also can download pics off my hard drive already. Maybe it is bonus with enhanced accounts only...havent looked into it. But if it is, then sure go ahead for non enhanced accounts as well!
#24 Snakesatsunset on 2010-12-22 07:46 (Reply)
I would like to see separate classified sections for example: Burmese, hognose, columbian boas, Central American boas etc. It gets old shifting through all the different ads just to look at Burmese pythons or Hognose snakes.
#25 Shawn on 2010-12-22 10:50 (Reply)
1. Auto select all ads for renewal at one time with 2 or fewer clicks.
2. Edit/remove/replace photos in an ad versus just a typed update below the ad. Links break and the photos cannot be replaced-the ad has to be deleted and then rebuilt.
3. Pricing is fair-no complaints there.
4. Ad counters are a nice indicator of what is getting looked at-definitely a plus.
5. A rating system will open a can of worms-there are other/better ways to protect sellers/buyers.
#26 Jeff on 2010-12-22 11:12 (Reply)
I would like to see a rear-fanged section in the classifides. I have seen mangrove snake ads in both venomous and other snakes sections making it more difficult for the seller to reach its audience
#27 josh on 2010-12-22 12:34 (Reply)
Allow for larger file size on pictures, more than the 150kb.
Ad view counter would be nice.
Price is good, keep the spammers away!
Seller rating/review/comments system (similar to ebay).
Move the share button.
Iphone app would be GREAT!
#28 V M on 2010-12-22 23:27 (Reply)
1. Easy way to select multiple ads for renewal at one time.
2. Edit/remove/replace photos in an existing ad.
3. Ad views counter.
4. Ability to keep inactive ADDs without them being deleted.
#29 Manny on 2010-12-23 12:42 (Reply)
I have read all the responses thus far and agree with almost everyone.
#1….My main issue is the ease at uploading photos for the classified advertisements. I have pretty much stopped loading current photos because I do not like to take the time to resize each photo to meet the 150 KB size limit. Photos are extremely important to buyers (kingsnake users)…. But I often do not have time to resize a dozen recent photos before posting. I like the system that facebook has which lets you drag and drop any size photo, and some mysterious program does all the photo resizing to their specifications. I know that this is of interest to many people besides me…..#7 Peter; #13 Mitch; #19 Shane; #28 VM….and others.
I think if it were easier to get a current photo from your camera to the classified ad, the whole section would be easier to use, more current, more honest, better for the customers, and it would save a lot of time among all your classified posting clients. I would use the site more often (and post better content) if it were more user friendly.

#2….I agree with #18….(Josh’s Frogs)…..Because I do not get online to post ads very often, I often log on to find that not only have my ads have expired, but they are not in memory any longer. This requites me to re-compose the ads before I re-post basically the exact same advertisement (usually cut and paste the exact words from a MS word document). If you keep the ads in your memory a little longer before erasing them, it would be helpful to me. (I just have the basic subscription; I post for 30 days at a time so I can make use of your website without visiting more often; I only sell my babies and the ads are current until I sell out).

#3…. I agree with #21 (Sal) and others who suggest an I-phone app. I imagine that this would increase users.

#4….I agree with #10 (Varnid) and others about seller feedback. I know this can get messy, but it will reward the outstanding sellers with good customer feedback (either anonymously or feedback linked to the buyer). Even the less than perfect comments can be useful to sellers because they pin-point areas where we may need improvement. Even if it were a solely a customer ranking system (like 1 through 10), on different topics….(customer service, quality of shipping experience, health of animal on arrival, general thoughts on vendor, would you order from this seller again?....and so forth). This would help future customers separate the good guys from the others. Although I do not look at it…the idea behind the Fauna Good Guy Ranking has some merit.

#4….Have a section of kingsnake.com which works like a social bookmarking site. This would allow your users to post informative content about their products. Because of your high page ranking, this will also help raise the search engine rankings for the users who use this (SEARCHABLE) feature. Think, Digg and Delicious.
Thank you for the opportunity to critique your website and voice our collective suggestions. This is a characteristic of many successful companies, and I hope that you can put some of these suggestions into effect. I look forward to an improved experience for all users…. Thanks again, Bryan Hummel.

I had no idea the file size on kingsnake photos was that small.
high speed is the norm now; this isn't 97 when we were lucky to get 56k :-)
As a buyer, search is the most important thing for me hands down: I want to be able to search quickly and accurately for what I'm looking for. Second is to get some feel for the reputation of the person selling (if I've never dealt with them before). you'd have to have something to avoid blatant abuse though; I don't know what safeguards you'd put in place.
#31 Varanid on 2010-12-25 01:31 (Reply)
Kingsnake is the best reptile related website. PERIOD. The fact that they are asking for input for the purpose of improving this site proves that.

The only thing I believe the site needs is a feedback section for buyers and sellers. Ther are other site that have feedback, that although humorous are unproductive for the most part. There should be no third party input. It had been mentioned that E-bay was a good example of a good feedback system. I have made sure I have kept a perfect rating on E-bay because it makes it eaiser for me to buy & sell. The majority of the folks selling here good & honest people btu it would be nice to weed out the dirtbags. A feedback system would make it less of a gamble to buy & sell reptiles on-line and it would also increase your revenue.

I would like to see the Crested Geckos get their own classified page like the Leopard Geckos. I do not enjoy sorting through all of the Crested geckos when I am looking for anything but them.

Also, allow classified account holders to keep their posts saved for more than fifteen days....perhaps thirty days to save a post after it has expired?

Thanks for letting us give some input!

Charge viewers to contact vendors. No charge for looking, charge to contact us. Refund their money with a purchase. Tired of countless number of emails with no sales. This site is full of picture collectors and the unemployed. Can't remember the last sale I had through this cite. I have better luck with the local free ads !
